FLOWERS’ WHISTLE (2020)

Flowers Whistle’s
Baños’ creation consists of a large-format painting with a vase of flowers as the main subject. However, this seemingly static still life comes to life through a circular audiovisual device installed at the center of the work, which projects a dynamic symphony of images, sounds, and whistles generated by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms.
In the artist’s words, “I’ve tried to reinterpret the language of flowers, where not only does each type of flower, but also its color, symbolize an emotion — isolation, frustration, loss — experienced during the pandemic years.” Developed between 2020 and 2024 in Chicago, the work incorporates audio and images from his archive, collected during the months of lockdown, creating an intimate and multisensory experience.
This intersection of painting, sound, and video invites the viewer to a reflective and immersive experience, where human emotions are amplified through profound sensory interaction.
